Spring 1979 Flood

Spring 1979 Flood

On Friday afternoon, March 2, 1979, the East Twin River, which passes through downtown Mishicot, began to overrun its banks due to heavy rains and rapid snow melt, flooding the village park and part of Main Street. By the following Monday, the high water had receded.

This view of the Village Park is looking toward South Main Street from the top of the hill (the Rockway Street parking lot). As a point of reference, the bank of the river is normally by the tree line in the distance.

This photo was taken Saturday morning, March 3, 1979.
