Spring 1979 Flood

On Friday afternoon, March 2, 1979, the East Twin River, which passes through downtown Mishicot, began to overrun its banks due to heavy rains and rapid snow melt, flooding the village park and part of Main Street. By the following Monday, the high water had receded.

This view is looking across the South Main Street bridge toward downtown. As a point of reference, the crest of the river was normally 11 feet below the bridge.
